~*Quick Overview*~
The lands surrouding the tall walls of Vian Valley used to be packed with tight-knit communities of wolves, each with their own history and territory. Free space was scarce, and some wondered why no wolves had ever entered Vian Valley as a potential home. they were always given the same answer: it was the "gray zone", the traveling ground for loners, and the area silently agreed upon by all Alphas for the last 300 years to be kept empty.
It was a bad mistake.
A few years ago, a number of the local scientists studying the packs noticed a sudden, steep dive in the number of wolves. A terrible disease the scientists couldn’t quite identify, called "Teraphis Fever" by the humans, swept through the wolf population before anyone could stop it, slowly killing every wolf there was. A large team sent by the government tried to fix the problem. They introduced new wolves into the packs, but they were either run off or caught by the disease as well. After a hard-fought, tiring four months, the areas usually teeming with life were silent... the disease won.
Vian Valley was somehow spared from this onslaught, most likely because of the shield of trees lining the Valley's walls. With the old taboo broken, loners began turning to the Valley for a home. Packs were quickly established, alliances made, bonds formed, children birthed, and life began to move again...
Only there were terrible aftermaths from Teraphis Fever lurking in the shadows...
~*Current Plot: Minor Plot #2*~
When the Teraphis Fever swept through the lands outside Vian Valley, three types of survivors were discovered: those who had an immunity to the disease, those who survived and turned insane, and the most cruel fate one could suffer: the paralyzing effect the disease carried was lifted and, driven crazy and feral, these disease-infested wolves wreaked havoc upon Wellford City and the pack lands. The humans went into a panic as hundreds of feral wolves would attack at random times during day or night; nothing the humans did to keep them away helped because the feral wolves were unafraid of everything. Certain restrictions on the hunting of animals were lifted because of these violent acts; soon hunters were allowed to shoot and kill any wolf they thought was feral on sight. The shifter wolves were smart enough to stay out of human's way, and their population didn't suffer; the feral wolves, on the other hand, were crazy. They took a steep dive in their numbers. Soon, any remaining feral wolves retreated into the diseased lands and left Vian Valley alone.
A few years later their numbers have returned to the size they were when the disease first struck, and food in the disease lands is scarce. Hallowed Falls is a pack close to the diseased lands, and, at the moment, is in a time of great prosperity. They have remained neutral in the conflict between Foggy Peak and Barren Hollows, offering help to both sides if they keep them peacefully out of the conflict, and so far it seems to be working. The feral wolves know this; they know if they try anything on the other packs they're bound to die. They also know that Hallowed Falls is a land of plenty; small game is particularly abundant, and large herds mark their yearly migrations through the terra.
Who else is a more perfect target for a feral wolf takeover?
